My friend Mini is here all the way from California for her 1st ever art competiton. A pretty big deal for a woman that a few months ago was working in the tech industry with no idea of the huge risk she would take for a dream.
I love this piece, I love her adventure to this piece and I love that she's giving back in a big way.
Check out what led her to take such a brave risk:
If you haven't been inside DeVos Place yet, hit the 2nd Floor Skyway & check out this phenomenal piece. (Flame painting, c'mon!) And make sure to cast your vote as we get close to the Top 25! #64707

Joy is not any one particular face, joy is many faces. Joy is not one specific color, it is all the colors, and it is in this diversity in color that make us transcend into a space more beautiful than we ever could be on our own. Rather than focusing on what divides us, I chose to focus on what unites us for my first year at ArtPrize, and that is the fiery joyful feeling of being connected to one another at a human level regardless of whether you are black or white, brass or copper. To convey this fiery joy, over the course of four months I took over 2,000 individual strokes of a torch to "paint" on copper with a flame to create the sash of joy flowing through Big Joy Buddy and Little Joy Buddy's bodies. What better way to express the organic feeling of joy than through this organic and skillful art form that has brought my heART such joy? These Joy Buddies are plump with hope for a more vibrant future. Should you vote, vote for JOY. Vote for what brings us together, rather than the labels that pull us apart. #VoteCode64707 #joybuddies #artprize PC: Christopher Deau Photography
