Scientists have discovered a new fungus that is destroying bee numbers, Nosema Bombi. While the fungus has been around for centuries, it has recently become a serious threat to a large number of bee populations.
The problem? It makes the male bee swell so much, they're unable to bend their abdomen to mate. And when you can't mate with the Queen, pollination doesn't happen.
Scientists are working to figure out a fix to the problem because bees are responsible for pollinating 30% of the world's food. No pollination, no food!
So fat bees? Big problem!
