Wikileaks Founder Julian Assange Dragged Out Of Ecuadorian Embassy

Julian Assange Appears At Westminster Magistrates Court

Wikileaks founder Julian Assange was arrested and hauled kicking and screaming out of the Ecuadorian Embassy yesterday. As eight policemen dragged him out, he ranted about Donald Trump and screamed stuff like "the UK must resist."

The arrest came after the Ecuadorian government ended his asylum status. They were apparently tired of his rude behavior and poor personal hygiene, which reportedly included smearing POOP on the walls of the country's London embassy. Gross!

Assange has been holed up since 2012 at the Ecuadorian Embassy as protection from sexual assault allegations in Sweden. He was given political asylum and later made a citizen of Ecuador. During his seven-year stay, British taxpayers footed the bill for round-the-clock surveillance and a visible policing effort.

Twenty-four hours before his arrest, Wikileaks had accused Ecuador of an extensive spying operation. They believe the intelligence had been handed over to the Trump administration.

President Moreno said Assange’s stay at the embassy was ‘unsustainable and no long viable’ after the government had been threatened by WikiLeaks.

Assange is facing a year behind bars in the UK for breaching bail. He also faces extradition to the United States where he is facing decades in prison for espionage. Following his arrest, Assange was charged by the American government with hacking 750,000 classified documents, which carries a five-year sentence.

There will be more charges in the coming days, including espionage, which can carry a 20-year sentence.
