On Tuesday afternoon, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman announced the league’s plans to resume the 2020 season. It has been 11 weeks since the league has paused play due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Detroit Red Wings finished in last place with a 17-49-5 record. They will be returning to play the remaining 11 games on their schedule, as the NHL will proceed directly to a 24-team playoff format.
