Benzino shares his thoughts after his daughter Coi Leray and boyfriend Trippie Redd announced they're expecting their first child together.
In a video posted on Saturday, January 4, the veteran artist revealed he found out about Coi's pregnancy "when the world found out." At first, he explained that it was a "surreal" feeling. Benzino, who will turn 60 in July, also shared that his older son is also expecting a child with his girlfriend. 'Zino sounded taken aback when he realized he'd become a granddad for the first time with two grandchildren.
"I'm gonna be a granddad, ain't that something? Wow," he said.
When asked how he felt about Trippie Redd being the father of his grandchild, Benzino admitted he's never met him personally and doesn't know enough about him to form a definitive opinion. He also said he's heard Trippie's music and is open to meeting him but won't judge the Ohio rapper based on his music or anything on the Internet. He congratulated them both and said, "It's the most beautiful thing that could ever happen to them."
Benzino and Coi Leray don't have the best father-daughter relationship. The "Players" rapper denounced her dad last year after 'Zino claimed R. Kelly deserved a second chance during a podcast episode. At the time, Coi claimed she hadn't spoken to her father in over a year and said she wanted nothing to do with him. Benzino admitted that he hadn't spoken with his daughter and thought it was "shitty" that he found out about her pregnancy on the Internet. He didn't take it personally though.
"I just want everybody, especially my kids, I want them all to prosper and be healthy," he said. "They already know if there's any type of issues just get on the phone and I'm there. But other than that, they're pretty much self-sufficient and independent, and as a parent, that's what any parent would want."
