This State Is Offering Marijuana Joints To Adults Who Get The Vaccine

One state is taking vaccine efforts to a new level with its offer of a pre-rolled marijuana joint to adults who get the COVID-19 vaccine. In a deal with marijuana dispensaries, officials in Washington state are hoping to get more people encouraged to get protected against coronavirus.

The Joint for Jabs program was approved Monday (June 7) by the state’s Liquor and Cannabis Board (LCB) and will run through July 12, The Hill reported. Only adults 21 years old and over who get their first or second vaccine shot are eligible for the promotion.

“The LCB received multiple requests from cannabis retail licensees to engage in promotions to support state vaccination efforts,” the LCB said in a statement.

Washington residents who get vaccinated can also receive a free alcoholic drink from select restaurants and bars if they show their vaccination card.

Gov. Jay Inslee also announced last week that cash prizes topping $2 million are up for grabs for vaccinated residents as well as college tuition, sporting event tickets, and more.

The rollout comes after several states launched incentives to boost vaccination rates as the nation pushes forward with reopening. Ohio made headlines with its $1 million raffle for residents who got vaccinated.

President Joe Biden recently unveiled his goal of getting at least 70% of Americans vaccinated by July 4 of this year.
