SEC Is The Latest Victim Of Hackers

The Securities and Exchange Commission says that hackers breached its online filing system and may have used the information to make illegal trades. The SEC gave few details about the hack, saying only that it involved a software "vulnerability" in its Edgar online filing system.

The agency detected the breach last year, but did not learn until last month that it could have been used for improper trading. The incident was briefly mentioned in a statement on cybersecurity released by the SEC chairman. That statement did not specify the exact date the system was breached or whether information about specific companies was targeted.
