The National Weather Service confirmed an EF1 tornado touched down in a small community in Northeast Lower Michigan Tuesday afternoon.

Published report said that, at about noon on Tuesday, the twister made its way through downtown Hale, causing damage to a handful of businesses along the way.

A meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Gaylord, said a team of weather experts confirmed the twister at about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

An EF1 tornado is considered weak, according to the Enhanced Fujita Scale.
