WYOMING, Mich. (WOOD) – It’s almost back to school time and kids are in need of supplies. A group of west Michigan school children got a chance to shop with a cop to fill out their supplies list Saturday.

Call it a joint task force for fun. Police agencies from across west Michigan gathered outside the brand new Wal-Mart on 54th Street in Wyoming.

After a parking lot roll call, the officers got their assignments while dozens of elementary school children were ready and waiting to shop with a cop.

Once inside, it was an organized free-for-all on school supplies. Each kid had a $66 budget to get set and ready for back to school.

The young students were all part of the One Wyoming 1 on 1 mentoring program.
