More people found more jobs in Michigan that we knew in Spring last year.

That's according to a new government report on job growth that shows thouands more jobs in Michigan between April and July last year.

It is the Mackinac Center's "Capitol Confidential" publication that found the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics' quarterly report on job creation showing far more success in Michigan than the BLS monthly report.

The quarterly Business Economic Development report for the second quarter of 2013 shows more than 16,000 jobs created in Michigan.

That is 80-percent more than the 9,000 new jobs shown in the monthly Current Employment Statistics from the same agency for the same period.

The Center quotes a U of M economist as saying this new number shows "Michigan was adding jobs at a faster rate than the country as a whole."
