Michigan retailers posted their best sales performance in more than three years, a survey released Wednesday shows.
"We get a better picture of what’s going on by looking at this past spring as a whole, and that picture is strongly positive," James Hallan, president and chief executive officer of the Michigan Retailers Association, said in a statement.
The June survey of MRA members found 54 percent increased sales in June when compared with last year. The rest of the members were more or less split between those reporting no change and those reporting declines year-on-year.
MRA said sales forecasts for third quarter 2014 slipped, however, suggesting there may be a slowdown on the horizon.
