Incidents of assault reported by the Grand Rapids Police Department increased, crime mapping data show.

Assault led in terms of crimes with 59 incidents reported from July 5 to July 11. Theft and larceny took the No. 2 spot with 40 incidents in the most recent reporting period.



The most recent data show an increase in the number of assaults from previous reports. From June 26 through the 4th of July holiday weekend, GRPD reported 43 incidents of assault.

Four incidents of simple assault were reported Thursday.  No data were yet available for Friday.
